Peterborough

Left Wansford early (8.15) and travelled through pretty water meadows. The River Nene near Peterborough meanders and is quite wide. Arrived in Peterborough and moored up on the embankment just before lunch. Visited the cathedral in the afternoon. Booked our passage through Stanground Lock onto the Middle Level for tomorrow morning. Evening showers.

Wansford

Another great days boating! Weather fresh but sunny. Travelled from Ashton to Wansford- in- England. Why it's so called is linked to the river and a man called Barnabee. Try Google. Moored by the bridge where the old Great North Road crosses the River Nene.

Ashton

Short days cruising Moved on from Wadenhoe to Ashton - home of the World Conker Championships. Delightful mooring down a backwater. Went shopping in Oundle for essential supplies. Scrabble on board!

Trip to Stoke Bruerne June 2006

A year after the Blisworth Tunnel Bicentenary celebrations, the Friends of the Canal Museum held a small boat rally.

We took Albert to the rally with our boating friends from Wolverhampton; the Kinnings

Great to have extra help with the locks and great weather again - just like 2005!

Tasty fish & chips and well earned round of drinks! Posted by Picasa
